A New Old House in the Tree Farm

Some images copyright Sam Van Fleet Photography.
This is a new spec home we built on a infill lot in a peaceful and spacious Sammamish neighborhood. A bright and warm entryway welcomes! A two-story stone fireplace, oak wood floors and a custom designed stairrail add rich character. The pickets are brushed wrought iron with a clear finish.

Through an elegant arched doorway is the Dining Room. The dining room ceiling was inspired by a visit to a quaint little market in Roslyn, WA that is almost 100 years old. The board and batten wainscot detail is similar to what you would find in the nicer homes in Seattle during the early 1900’s and is completed with a plate rail on top. A dining room built in the Seattle residence of E. Ryder and featured in the June 1913 issue of Bungalow Magazine has a kindred feel. The picture nook provides a central display area for a work of art.

The epicurean kitchen has premium grade Cherry cabinets with a clear finish and made with solid Cherry plywood boxes (no particle board). They were custom drawn in a Shaker style by Elaine and built to specifications by a local furniture and cabinet maker. Practical features of the cabinets include soft close drawers, all wood lazy Susan’s, and pull out drawers in the lower cabinets. With furniture feet, divided light glass in the uppers, and the bottom rail on each cabinet door being weighted (larger) the cabinets are visually appealing as well as practical. The kitchen island has a bar on one end with shaker legs (built with a very attractive figured cherry) for a spot to sit, two deep drawers and a cupboard beneath the prep sink. There is a striking stamped stainless steel backsplash over the 6 burner Monogram cooktop, an original Shaw apron-front sink, honed granite countertops, and all stainless appliances including a Dacor convection microwave and oven and a Bosch dishwasher and refrigerator. The classic white subway tile backsplash is bright and easy to clean.
